Existing in somewhat of a superposition between ripe flavors and raw tannins. An impression of dark fruit and earthy tones, but clipped early by those tannins, which dominate everything and come across as green and unyielding. Not much says RSV about this. Maybe it gets better with time, or maybe not, but I don't see much harm in waiting.

HDH auction tasting at Tru; 9/14/2017-9/16/2017 (Chicago, IL): The nose on this shows a little bit of stinkiness that I'm not too keen about. Beside that is a very dark and potent wine, with lots and lots of black fruit. The palate is heavy, with too many oak influences leading to some really bitter tannin. Perhaps this could use some air or time to integrate, but it's just not showing its stuff right now.

Friday after Thanksgiving (FAT) - Part 1 - Burgundy 2006 (Palm Beach Gardens FL): Slightly floral with firm red fruit when first tasted a couple of hours after opened. Slightly angular at the time, but then re-tasted the next day, when it transformed into a wine with ripe red berries, great spice and nicely harmonious textures. 90 points the 1st day, 93 the 2nd day. Others also liked this much more the 2nd day.
