  • Perrot-Minot 2001-2005 Tasting (Chicagoland IL): In 01-05 vertical. Served single blind, did anybody think this 2004? Nothing green, bitter, or even underripe. Black and red cherry with meaty character start-to-finish, fresher when first tasted (open two hours), more like slowly braised meat When finished a few hours later. Great for the vintage.

  • Clearly turbocharged, overdone burgundy. Pure ruby red with a lightening rim. The nose is loaded with dark berry fruit, mocha and toasted oak. Not new world but close in weight. Velvety feel that hits the palate with oomph. Finishes a touch dry. It’s too bad the fruit got this treatment as there is some lovely underlying material. Not my preferred style but still enjoyable - as long as you don’t fixate on what could have been. Like other tasters have noted, there is no green here. (90) for style agnostic. I might give this a decant next time as the last glass was the best.

  • From memory this was excellent, bordering on outstanding. I was concerned it might be getting tired so I did not decant but it was very lively and opened up nicely in the glass. Powerful for a Pinot and still plenty of oak which somewhat masks the terroir but if I had another bottle I would wait until 2024 to see some more distinct evolution.

These wines are great and fully open for business. They keep us holding us more than 6 hours to finish them. Very powerful intermixed, very nice to drink Charmes and Mazoyeres-Chambertin side by side. From the same producer and same vintage also buying from the same place same time at Paris in 2008 so the condition is the same for sure.
Mazoyeres-Chambertin is more feminine, elegant but both are splendid at the moment.
I drank 2004 Mazoyeres-Chambertin 3-4 times since released till today. I always love this wine and came back there to buy it more and more.
This aged wine should be more soften with time but no, not at all. Tonight it shows super great structure, full body, full dimensions with the powerful aftertaste.

Sorry, NO GREEN can be found at this stage.

    Well-made, well done !!

  • Certainly not classic burgundy, but I like it. The past few years have seen the oak recede to the background with full black cherry fruit showing through. Big, full - a bruiser. Drinking well now. No elegance, but a fun, powerful burgundy. (91)

(Domaine Perrot-Minot Mazoyères-Chambertin Vieilles Vignes) Lovely dark, dark pink color; lovely, rich yet ethereal ripe berries and soy nose; elegant entry, balanced if still tight fruit, gently oaked notes of caramel; medium finish 92+ pts.
