"Baby are you okay? You've barely touched your Char-spookerie." (Chicago, IL): Served double blind. Very juicy and sweet, with a profile that swings towards black fruit. Plummy, jammy, and quite ripe. I thought that this was CdP with a bit of a modern twist but in hindsight the lack of dirtiness should have clued me in that CdP wasn't the best guess.

Still drinking well after sixteen years and consistent notes as previous tastings. Black cherries, blackberries, and licorice. Medium to full bodied and a medium to long finish.

Drinking very well now, black cherries, blackberries, and licorice. Medium to full bodied and a medium to long finish. Needed 10-15 minutes after uncorking to open up

This had prune-like qualities and an overall odd unpleasant finish. Past prime? Or just typical for aged syrah's? I don't know, but I didn't enjoy the bottle.
By way of comparison, I had the 2003 Copain Syrah Eaglepoint Ranch the week before, which I enjoyed.

Decanted and drank over two nights. Very well made mature Syrah. Didn't like as much as the C&C vineyard from Copain from same vintage. Very enjoyable and at peak.
