At first I thought this wine was corked, but after it sat in the glass for 20 minutes the musty aroma blew off and it began to open up. There is a purity of fruit expressing classic red fruit Pinot Noir notes with very clean lines... Lots of raspberry with just enough mineral and earth to tell you where it is from. However, there is a dominance of oak and rough tannin on the finish that should have resolved by age 9, especially for 1er Cru Burg. Good, but not memorable.

Burgundy Masterclass with Jean Pierre Renard; 10/23/2009-10/29/2009 (Incontro): Fresh florals, mushy mushrooms and light woodyness with an almost milo powder aroma to it. Spicy berries, sweet flowers, some spice-marinated smoked meats. Still a bit hard to digest now and will need lots of time to soften.
