  • Second bottle - went down 6 months later. Decanted one hour. This time enjoyed with a homemade chicken vegetable soup which was a much better pairing. This wine probably had a little more floral in the nose than the other bottle, and actually quite a bit more spice on the finish that was more noticeable when consumed alone. Also a little tannin was there - quite a bit more nonticeable. Definitely not overpowered by the food this time. I think this bottle has really found itself and drank very well tonight. Perhaps a touch more full bodied than previously noted near the end of October.

  • Consumed tonight with a tomato soup. The wine was decanted and served. The wine poured a dark red into the glass with a thin water layer. The nose has a little red cherry, some floral perfume. The wine on the palate started and finished rather soft. There was some ripe red cherry, white pepper spice that wasn't very strong, and some earth in the mid-palate and finish. The finish isn't very strong, and doesn't last very long. I struggled with this wine throughout dinner as I think the soup actually overpowered this wine a bit. Much better consumed by itself. Slowly consuming the last 2-3 oz over the next 3-4 hours didn't reveal anything new. A very soft finish, no hint of tannin. Very elegant pinot. Not "in your face," brash, or pretentious. Probably a now drinker - but I'll probably lay the other one down for a 6-9 months to see if anything changes. Done by 2015.
