  • Medium red color, nose of dark red fruit, some smoked meat and slightly floral. Medium palate with red cherries and tea like notes. Perhaps it lacks the intensity to be truly great. Whats slightly put off is the slightly saccharine like finish at the end. Maybe I am too critical its not a bad wine overall but at the current price it should be stunning but it isn't.

  • What do you do when your wife has her 50th birthday? Why, you pop one of your cellar's greatest treasures of course, and in this case it was the Leroy that had to die. In retrospect probably not a good idea since we're absolutely not familiar with burgundy and pinot noir... Pearls before swine in other words. Here's what we thought of the wine:
Light colour, touching on orange at the edge. A very unusual nose, somewhat sweet, subtle oak, and sherry-like. A little thin on the palate, still sherry-like. In our mind clearly over the top, even though it has been in my cool cellar for about 18 years. We won't rate it since we're such amateurs when it comes to this type of wine, but this much I can say - this is the worst QPR I have ever seen...

We had turkey breast with mushrooms, cauliflower and Brussels sprouts and potato salad with it.
