Community Tasting Notes (1)

  • Fragile cork damp almost to the top. Quite a deep color. Woodsy nose. Dark cherry fruit. Not the finesse one would hope for. Freshened up a little after 30 minutes, showing more fruit. Silky texture on the palate is more faithful to its Vosne origins than the nose. Good complexity - there’s quite a lot going on - but no doubt that the tertiary elements are now broadly in charge here. Good acid as you might expect in 1993. Tannins are resolved but there is just a hint of dryness. Commendably long. This got better and better over an hour. And after two hours more fruit and sweetness on the palate Though on the way down now, this is a worthy and rewarding example if you like older Burgundies, But - in this modern world where wines are drunk so young - most I suspect will likely judge this well past its best. Made by Regis Morey I believe, who was not known for making wines of consummate finesse. Recommend an hours decant. Bottle 537. Bought on release.
