The corks are not very good, which is a shame for such a nice wine. Not decanted this time; rather left to develop in the glass. It needs a little time for the dusty character to disappear and the ripe, fruity, spicy notes to develop. It comes across as almost dry. A nice companion to many cheeses

The first of 20 half bottles. This was the worst bottle with signs of seepage. Deep color with some amber hue as you would expect in a 40 year old bottle. Aromas of over-ripe fruit and raisins. Very smooth and rich texture. Nice, long finish. A beautiful surprise. If it wasn't for the cheap cork, this wine could age even longer. The aromatics improved overnight. The balance is exquisite: all of the intensity and diversity of a Port style wine without the weight. This wine kept improving with air. I recommend decanting. Incredible!

Tasted a bit tired today.
Recorking it didn't seem to provide a sufficient boost.
Still nice with blue cheese
