  • Cork was petrified but the wine is sound, if honey-colored (with huge plugs of sediment). So much dried mint, raspberry, tea. Dried blood, potpourri, roses, fennel seed, with a thick, silky texture that clings to the palate. Way beyond mature but hanging together effortlessly anyways due to good acidity and a wisp of tannin. Gorgeous.

  • Borgogno & Truffles Dinner (Marc's House): Wonderful after several hours decant. Perhaps even better the next day (24 hours later) when the red fruit came screaming back and was really strong.

  • Drank this at Chef Chan's Restaurant tonight with some wine mates. Theme of the night: Wines from the Year of the Rooster.

The oldest wine of the night. The oldest wine I have ever tasted.

Way past its prime but gave beautiful insights on how good wines can age gracefully and beautifully.

Brownish in colour with some earthy and mineral notes. On the palate the primary fruity notes were gone. In place, the sour plum notes were very pronounced with some whiffs of tar and preserved fruits.

The evolution in the glass is very fast and it moves from stage to stage very rapidly.

Did not rate this wine very highly but it was a very memorable and moving experience to taste a 60 year old wine.

  • A wonderful bouquet with subtle flavors of wild berries, red currant, tart cherries, rosehips, rosewater and aged aceto balsamico. Nearly 30 minutes in the glass were necessary to unlock further aromas, reminiscent of orange peel, worn-out leathers and sous bois. A medium body, fine and vivid acid, as well as ripe, fine-grained and nearly completely resolved tannins ensure for surprisingly much drive – especially, when considering the wine’s age. Speaking of which, fully mature, but with a still completely intact structure, excellent complexity, harmony, elegance and delicacy. Outrageously long-lasting finish and simply put, one of those commemorable drinking experiences. Tonight an epitome of delicacy, elegance and simply a terrific showing.

  • Very metallic; glue - not in a good shape.
