What a beautiful expression of the Merlot variety. The wine opens to a hint of reduction before shifting to a savory bouquet of dark fruit, pencil shavings, dark chocolate, and black licorice candy. Fine tuned and luminous in the mouth, supported by pastille-like tannin, admirable complexity, and juicy dark fruit flavors. Spicy intensity animates the long, sapid finish.

More was a bit funky, funky cheese funky, but in the best way possible. Palette was complex cherries, leather and smooth tannins. The wine held up for two days but was clearly best on day one. A pleasant surprise.

Wow. Had almost overlooked these. Have been focused on opening and tasting through the 95-97. This is a beautiful Merlot. I'd adjust the window through '12. Very refined. Nice spice notes, red, jammy fruit with some lead and floral on the finish. Will save the last one for next holiday season.

Magnum for wine charm party. Incredible cinnamon and spice aromas augmented by ripe cherries. Red fruits dance on the palate with fine tannins and moderate acidity. Showing really well now.
