While not undrinkable, this wine tonight had no life left. A fading nose of stewed prunes and perhaps some cigarbox. My first thought was 'brutal tannins.' With little fruit left to balance them, the tannins were completely overpowering and mouth-drying. If you have any in your cellar, I would recommend crossing your fingers and opening them. I have one more bottle to try, but I'm not holding my breath.

Grenat avec bords orangés. Nez agréable de cèdre bien que relativement peu expressif, de sous-bois. En bouche, les tanins sont fondus, le vin se boit facilement sans être de grande complexité. A boire.

Dark garnet. Cedar, plum and earth on the nose. Dry and medium body on the palate with again cedar and earthy flavors. Slight tangyness on finish. Enjoyable. My wife usually reacts to sulfites and did not react to this wine.

This wine shows class and depth, effortlessly combining Bordeaux savoriness with New World ripeness. It's a terrific merlot-based blend, with complex flavors of currant, chocolate, herbs and lead pencil, all set in a smooth, dense, sweet and sour frame. Best now to 2014.
