13% alcohol. The long cork is soaked through. Decanted an hour ahead. Plenty of large size deposits, even though I decanted no more than 2/3 of the bottle. The colour is medium deep with the onset of bricking at the rim. Very good evolved nose with tertiary notes of dried flowers mixed with red berries. In the mouth, the wine shows good grip thanks in no small part to a substantial level of acidity in the final. Coming immediately after a 1999 Volnay, this Cornas came across as a bit uncouth initially, but in fairness it is refined enough in its own way. No oak perceived.

Lovely vibrant red. Slightly sulphuric nose dissipated after decanting, aromatic, cherries. Medium to light bodied, juicy red cherries. Lovely drinking.

Refilled the 2hr decanted wine back into the bottle and forgot about it. The bottle wasn't closed too tightly and the wine really got better after several days! Acidity is gone, notes of chocolate and sort of smokey caramel. I am increasing the drinking window. This should actually get better in 2-3 years.

Acid has calmed down, but still somewhat dominating and fighting the fruit. This is after 30 min decant. My hope is that it moves further away from acidity and allows a nice aged cornas to come out. Will see

Challenging. Some fruit, but overwhelmed by acid. Might come around in a few years, but not clear.
