Quincy’s Writer’s Block Counoise has the trademark spicy plumy nose of a great Counoise but ups the ante with hints of cranberry and baker’s spice as well. The wine has the zip and vigor and surprising acidity you’d expect from a Counoise, and it coats the tongue with red apple peel flavors as it races across your palate but then hits the brakes for a long heady finish. In a word: divine. Do it for father, do it for son: pick up this Writer’s Block Counoise and enjoy a Forgotten Grape created by the next generation of great. Nose of strong, yeasty, freshly-baked bread. Thin and a bit of spice, with a bit of unripened tart strawberry on the palate.
