This is an amazing old school southern rhone. Nose brambly raspberry. Anise. Great balance. Amazing acid. No oak. Long finish. If southern rhone was like this I’d be keeping it in the cellar.

I've become jaded and started to detest most southern Rhone wines. This wine bucks that trend for me. It is both well-made and appealing to this drinker - and just coming into its own at 15 years. Nose has appropriate funk, acid-driven bright raspberry, licorice, some garrigue, floral - lavendar?, blackberry, black pepper. Palate well-balanced, not flabby or hot. No shrinking violet, but nice acid, mineral, tannin. Complex. A wine that reminds me I can still _SOME_ southern Rhones - just need to find the right ones.

Wine Club: Rhone under $50 (Bill's House): A little too ripe and not enough stuffing.

peppery on the nose, properly balanced taste - a very solid wine, if not spectacular.

Corks: Ampelography (Rossford, OH): Slightly shy nose. Ripe, but not rich. Good structure, surprisingly so for the vintage. Smooth. Slightly simple.
