Community Tasting Notes (1) Avg Score: 90 points

  • Superb mature burgundy colour fading to orange at rim. Inviting morello-raspberry and (strong!) white pepper aroma. Finely poised acid balance on palate, initially delectably fruity (more raspberry) and deep, with more air the taste grows drier and more astringent. After more time a touch of impurity emerges at the swallow - the fruit bends into a kind of rhubarb-like bitter-astringency which continues into the finish, immensely characteristic, unforgettable, but not entirely pleasant...
A perfect bottle from an impeccably cold Cambridge college cellar: this lovely pinot is -despite the ideal storage- probably a year past its absolute peak, but memorably, utterly delicious. 90P
