This older vintage was a lovely example of aged wines. While past its prime, it was in no way unpleasant. The tannins still existed, but were nearly gone; the acid was still very evident, and will be for another 2 years. It still had decent structure, tart plum, a bit of cherry on the nose. It’s definitely getting to the point where the alcohol dominates. A touch of brick is taking over the color. All in all, it was like visiting an elder friend…give it respect.

Note: I use the recommended scale, so 85 represents a very good wine.
As many others have recently noted, very nice bottle drinking well now. Well-integrated. Flavors not quite as pronounced as noted by some, but still very good. No signs of being over the hill for this bottle, although it would have been interesting to have had one a few years a go for comparison As I recall, 2007 was an highly regarded vintage for CDP, and this bottle is a testimony to that.

Fully mature, the wine is opulently textured, rich, ripe, and packed with dark cherries, flowers, blue fruit, figs, and black plums. No decanting or aging is warranted here, just pop, pour and enjoy.

Garrigue, red fruit and licorice, medium plus acid with medium / medium minus tannins. In a great spot right now.
