Oh, what is this one? sleeping in my cellar for over a decade, one from the red wine valley south of cologne, the Ahr, very small vineyard, known as the very best one from there, Gärkammer is very old fashioned German and means something like "fermentation chamber" referring to the very high temperatures appearing here on slate floor with south orientation, fully mature bottle, this is real balance here, nearly always needs a PN to show this, light- to mid bodied flow, the 14% ABV very good integrated by the delicate black fruit and the slate spice, little smoke from the barrel treatment, lingering delicious finish, great bottle, on top now, but no need to hurry! ****(+) , around 93-95

A private lunch (Restaurant Steinheuer **, Heppingen, Germany): Very developed colour, almost completely bricked through; quite a tertiary and developed style on the nose, opens up with some oxygen, sweet new oak, flowers, rosehip, undergrowth, a hint nuttiness, and some burnt notes; the palate is relatively slender and fresh, quite dry and mineral for a 2007 GG, with smoky slate and toasty oak, good energy and it does not lack fruit; intense finish, quite oaky, very good length. A very specific style, seemingly typical for the estate.
