I'm becoming a real fan of Chenin Blanc from South Africa. There is some natural minerality in these wines, that bring their enjoyment factor up to a level is only achieved by this varietal in France. Kind of New World meets Old World. This wine is clean and well made. Not particularly complex. It was on close out at World Market for $8.99, as the 2011's are coming in, so time to roll these 2009's out. Really golden color. The nose is intense, with a touch of straw, orange juice, pear, and earth. The fruit comes across the palate, New World style, but quickly becomes encrusted in some of those earthy, non fruit flavors, and I still think orange juice. Not quite medium bodied. Not particularly acidic. Citrus and mineral on the finish.

The wine of this grape has many manifestations. In this incarnation, it presents more as a Pinot Gris. Pleasant over all providing simple grass notes growing atop a gravel surface. Good representation and especially desirable under $10 US.

Floral and grape on the nose. Dry and sweet. Grapefruit. Grass. Gorgeous mouthfeel. Read the other reviews. There is nothing to dislike

Was a great wine value at $7. Now goes for $11. Guess the word is out on this very nice, food friendly white.

Very mild. Slightly crisp. Barely dry - almost sweet but not quite.
