  Floral, vanilla, lime, chalk, white grapefruit, candles. Lightly sweet, a bit oxidized, a back-end bitterness with a calcareous streak. Overall, impossible to resist. Terrifically mouth-coating, outstandingly long and layered with extract and mouthwatering acidity. Still very good, but the bitter note says drink now.

  Really good bottle, so 2001, so irresistible. There's insane levels of extract, fruit and grip for a kabinett, but this hardly tastes sweet given the masses of acidity. Perfectly balanced for my tastes. The nose is lovely with lemon, slate, a little petrol, coming across more rich and minerally than floral and lithe, but the palate where the action is with layers of everything and a mouth-coating, endless finish. My only quibble -- and I have found the same note with other Leitz 2001s -- is a slight lactic/talc bitterness that I am not fond of. Other than that, sensational. Drink now or soon, this can't get better.

  No formal notes. A lovely Kabinett, with wonderful spice, tart apple lift, and great acid/sugarbalance. Very good with spicy Thai food.
