  • I tried all of Gifford Hirlinger's wines in one tasting, and this one emerged as the clear standout winner among them. The nose was a steaming pile of cocoa hulls, minerals, and juicy prunes. On the palate, a delicious currant and cherry extract, with an absolute GRIP of tannins. In fact, I would say this bottle is a little hot still. I plan on putting one in my cellar for a maybe 3 or 4 years and revisiting this. The finish saved the best for last. I'm telling you it was like a German Chocolate cake: chocolate, mocha, toasted coconut and caramel. Yummmm!
