Good, do not wait any longer though. One of two wines for Xmas, the other being a jadot echezeaux 2008. Cork fully drenched but bottle not flawed. Colour: some small hints of orange but looked younger than expected. Nose as expected from a gentleman of that age. Full on with tertiary aromas dominating, in particular leather. Taste : light to medium bodied and good finish. Pruneau and leather dominating. Delicate not imposing.

Tuesday night blinds: [Tasted Double Blind] This wine pours medium to light ruby in the glass, with the faintest bricking. The nose is immediately very aromatic and feels like classic Bordeaux varieties showing celery seed, leather, gravel, charcoal, pipe tobacco, plum, dark dried strawberry, and melted butter. The palate is lovely with a bright plummy entry. Tannin is present, medium minus, and perhaps a touch astringent. Acid is medium plus. The finish is long and complex replaying the complexities of the nose. While on first pour it was painfully obvious this was mature left bank Bordeaux, on the second pour the melted butter notes had some of us wondering about Rioja. Regardless this was lovely and was drinking just a little younger than expected. Beautiful!

Classic Bordeaux and a great find. Ruby with a hint of bricking. Nose is a little diffuse and smoky, with decaying leaves, but the palate is fresher and bright. Real Bordeaux texture, not top class but good. Glad to have these.

Ouvert 1h avant repas. Plat prévu : confit de canard avec pommes de terre sarladaises. Température extérieure 23 degrés. Bouchon s'enlève tout seul et sans effort. Nez correct, fruits rouge confits, figues. Couleur rouge sombre avec anneau marron . alcoolisé ? Long en bouche. A voir après 1 h-2h. . Dégustation 1h après n'a pas changé, sauf avoir pris encore un peu de longueur

From Art's cellar. One-hour (or so) decant leaving very fine sediment. Cork was about 80% steeped. On decant, wonderful nose of red currants and fines herbs. Bright crimson in bowl towards an amber rim, with a medium clear halo. In the glass, nose had subdued: fines herbs, red plums and forest floor. In the mouth, tannins were all gone, wine was silky smooth and structure was just a wee bit loose: ripe red plums that were rather herbaceous with tarragon and fennel leading the way. Wine had a nice long finish that ended with a hint of burnt coffee showing the wine had just passed onto the wrong side of its peak. Wonderful food wine. Wish I had more.
