(Ehlers Estate Cabernet Sauvignon "1886") Very dark red violet color; nice cassis, red currant nose with lift; tasty, ripe cassis, red currant, herbal palate, needs 2-plus years; medium-plus finish 90+ pts. (90% Cabernet Sauvignon, plus Petit Verdot and Merlot)

There was nothing wrong with this bottle, but for a '07 and based on the price, was just left disappointed compared to so many others in that price range or even less.
Was a lighter shade of purple in glass and mostly red fruit with a tinge of black, had a moderate entry, a decent mid, but relative no finish, so was enjoyable but nothing 'exciting in mouth'.
Drank over 4 hours, was a PnP, did get a little better with time, but very small change from initial opening.
Not sure if it might have started its decline, no taste of any oxidation, but think if you got em.. drink up!

PnP. Notes very similar to 4 years ago. Very nice but surprised that there wasn't more than 3% Merlot.

drank this alongside '07, Plumpjack, Neyers Conn valley, Darioush, Cade. this was my fave wine of the group. an excellent wine and not a jammy bomb
