Year-End Wine Dinner @ GWC!: My 1st Petrus ever so kudos to the generous friend who brought this tonight! This tasted younger than a 1987 IMO - quite powerful and some density and body. Black fruits, figs, wet violets, olives. Nice long finish. There is pedigree and this reflects from a job well done in a weak vintage. Open up 93/94

During a year end wine dinner. Tasted blind. Good to have generous friends who bring a Petrus to a wine tasting, hard to come by these days with the price it has. Interesting this comes from a weak vintage but the wine held its own. It was lighter, clearly more Medoc in the palate, I guessed St.Julien with excellent freshness and lovely animal, tertiary notes. Not big, but also not thin. No one guessed Pomerol. I think Petrus has done a great job to pull this off in 1987.

Tasting of 6 Chateau Petrus at Beverly Hills Wine Merchant with Dennis Overstreet. Good red color in the glass, much newer than the 1979, ripe merlot fruit on the nose, light fruit, intense but subtle showing tannins and elegance at the back of the mouth and on the finish with both elegance and fruity berries.
