Very impressive how this has held together after almost 20 years. Dark garnet color with slight brown tinge but otherwise no sign of color breakdown. Aromas of strawberry preserves and black cherry along with dried grass. Smooth mouthfeel and balanced. Soft tannins with a long finish. Very enjoyable.

I enjoyed this wine (the last bottle) at Carter House Inn Restaurant 301. I thought, maybe it is will be past it's prime but it was reasonable and unique and I have very much loved other vintages of this wine. It drank very well - some fruit, a lot of terroir- it tasted like chaparral on a hot summer day in Sonoma. Perhaps it was stored properly compared to other bottles reviewed for this vintage? The cork was in perfect condition. Long finish. Paired with duck (me) and house made papparadelle with bolognese (Mr. Peepers.) Side note: the local oysters are some of the very best, freshest, I've ever tasted. If you are ever in Eureka, don't deny yourself a dinner at restaurant 301. Their wine library is exceptional and I was delighted to find this wine on their recently updated inventory. If I lived any closer .. but I don't, I live 5 hours away. Worth the drive.

Still seemed to be only 2 yrs old. Fruity, not much else. No sign of age.
