Purple & black fruit plus black pepper are what stand out, with a hint of leather in the finish. It's almost as if Zinfandel was cuvéed into this, which was probably what GASTROMD noticed in their note below when they said "brambly". Monte Rosso fruit has it's own characteristics, and this bottle an excellent example. I like the '03, but love this '01. It's held up amazingly well without losing much flavor as the secondary note of leather has developed. Had a bottle with the Connecticut group a few months back, and decided it's time to drink this up and make a proper TN here on CT. While not the most complex Cab, it's simply delicious and worth savoring every sip of each glass.

Drinking amazing right now. Great full mouthful of fruit, blackberry, hint of leather and vanilla. Ripe tannins. Could a ge gracefully for another few years.

Young and huge. It was pleasurable after about 2 hours, but when i acquire more of this, I plan on letting it age for a few years before opening more. It is truly excellent, but a bit overpowering now. Tannins are huge, acidity strong, but the two are balanced, and there are multiple layers of juicy fruit and a long finish. It ought to be worth a few more points in about 2009.

Great brambly nose, deep red, excellent grip, good but not long finish. Still one of the best cabs we have had! Certainly ready!
