Golden color. Slate, kaffir lime, asian pear, honey, and white florals on the nose. Really lovely youthful to middle aged in development, with a tiny hint of petrol. On the palate it's expansive and rich for a spatlese, but still with excellent cut and freshness that keeps it all in balance. There's more honey, pear, and florals, all with an outstanding balance of RS, acid, soil, and fruit. Finishes long yet clean. I really enjoy '04 in general. It seems to be a vintage that's been drinking well for many years, and this wine is no exception. Drinking well with time in hand.

Golden with still a green hue. Pear, slate, kaffir lime, some cooler green herbs, and subtle honeysuckle florals on the nose. On the palate, it is has density but still good lift and a sense of freshness, even in a higher extracted spatlese mold. Rich, yet fresh. Pear more than apple fruit, some subtle herbal (tarragon?) notes, honey, and florals, with a great balance of fruit, RS, acid, and slate/ stoniness.. At peak and likely to stay there for quite some time. Was a terrific match for pan cooked Red Wattle pork chops and butter beans.

The wine was medium yellow-golden in colour and offered lemon, ripe grapefruit, apple, peach, pineapple, acacia honey, ethereal notes and first signs of bottle age on the nose. On the medium-sweet palate the wine showed lemon, ripe grapefruit, apple, peach, pineapple, acacia honey and green tea, supplemented by underlying minerality, with medium-plus acidity and incredible length. The aftertaste seemed to linger for ages. A medium-bodied, medium-sweet, very balanced Spätlese with good complexity. Would buy again.

The cork was completely soaked and there was some seepage under the capsule, but otherwise the wine seemed fine. It offered lemon, peach, pineapple, sweet grapefruit, acacia honey, some tea, mineral notes and signs of bottle age on the nose. On the palate the wine showed citrus, peach, pineapple, sweet grapefruit, tea, mineral notes and signs of bottle age, with perfectly integrated, medium-plus acidity and incredible length. A medium-bodied, medium-sweet, medium-complex, very well-balanced Spätlese that drank very well. Would buy again.

Med gold green, ripe peach, nice earthiness, slight tropical notes, light spritz still. Pear apple and delicious med. sweetness. Med body, but good concentration. Tangy fruity finish. Still young, wait 2, 3 years more.
