An opaque dark purple in the glass. The nose is redolent of blackberries and blackcurrants and a hint of smoke. The merlot component emerges on the palate with red fruits and cooking spices. In the glass the wine continues to evolve, developing savory and herbal components over a couple of hours. Medium bodied, concentrated but not lush. Nicely structured with enough acid and tannins to cut through an unctuous braised short rib. A well made food wine.

Great for the first hour or two, but between three and four it started falling apart into a funky, vegetal soup. But while it lasted, this was classic Right Bank, with enough structure left to be interesting.

Closed at first. Aerated with venturi. Nose of woods, leather, tobabcco. Slightly vegetal. Fruity notes developed in the glass after an hour. Nice finish.

More like a Pomerol, this has a very dark red-purple color, strong bouquet of cherry and cedar, followed by concentrated fruit but excellent structure and balance, with a long finish. A great find at this price.
