I opened a Clarendon Hills Clarendon Vineyards Grenache 1999 next, although it was in a difficult position after the massive Clos Apalta. Light ruby in color, with cherries, slight barnyard, a floral element and yeast on the nose (the latter blew off in a while). Cherries, fresh grapes, and a hint of earth on the very pure, medium-full bodied palate. Elegant and quite tasty (A-).
