I really like this Ital-Cal sangiovese and for the price... smooth. Also, I real enjoyed the bouquet on the nose almost pinot noir like as it really reflected the terroir which is a fabulous appelation.

I had low expectations due to lengthy cellaring under non-ideal conditions as well as the low price tag... this was one of those bottles that falls between the cracks and bounces around from one place to another before finally being noticed and consumed. However, I was quite pleased— the wine had retained good structure, crisp acidity and the tannins had mellowed out to reveal an appealing plum fruit flavor. Molli and I dwelt on the strange heavy metal aroma— lead acetate? iron oxide?
