The 2006 Olek-Mery Chinon is ruby colored with aromas of barnyard straw, soil, and manure. It has a pleasantly lean, acidic, and astringent affect on the palate along with woven flavors of vegetal.

Very much enjoyed this - splash decanted - on nose, vegetal, cherry, pencil lead? Medium body, elegant acidic / fruit balane structure with stout tannins on med+ finish. Will buy more.

Tasted initially at 52 degrees immediately after opening. Translucent garnet color. Previous tasters have accurately described a funky note in the nose but I also get a lot of fresh fruit and graphite. Medium texture. My initial flavor impression is of earthy forest floor and bramble followed by blackberry. The tannins do not protrude but are prominent enough to be a factor in matching this with food. Very good.

More dark fruit than other bottles and also nice straw and barnyard funk.

Before turning out the lights I had to take a trip out to the barn and smell the fresh hay and poop. Wonderful stuff.
