Solid bottle for the money. Richer than I expected of an Alzinger Fed from 2008. Heavy soil component, mineral, spice, creamy texture. Lovely bottle. I bet it is a proper coup w shellfish

Reds at Dave's: I'm not completely sure I've got the right wine here. Popped and poured out of sequence. I only took a small pour. Very light clear color. Nice clean fruit on the nose. Good flavor intensity on the palate. Seemed pretty well balanced, but tended towards sweet. I really couldn't do justice to this given my desire to keep moving through the reds.

Just Another Lousy Day in Paradise (Yountville, CA): Subtle but complex scents of kiwi fruit, lychee and red berries. Delicate apricot sweetness framed by acid, herbal and soil tones - very elegant but sneakily penetrating, and enlivened by canapes that featured crab, caviar, asparagus, and smoked sturgeon.

Screwcap. Grassy/salty flavors predominate. A bit short on fruit. Light spritz and noticeable acidity. Didn't have the exuberance of a bottle tasted last fall. Perhaps bottle shocked?

2008 Gruner Veltliners (Vin Vino, Palo Alto): More deeply pitched nose of orange oil. Here's a Gruner that is hard to describe, but after a relatively rich first palate impression, it becomes lean with some bitterness. Not harmonious or even well integrated at this point.
