  Don & The Shrimpheads (Craig & Nita's Place): Medium dark red plus color. Drank a glass over 90 minutes. Decanted for 3hrs prior to diner & slow-oxed for another 2+ hrs. same bottle as Chablis28. I love this nose with high toned and lifted intensity and perfume, red cherry, rose petals, bay leaf, dried rose potpourri, leather, iron and hints of anise. The palate is shows this pure cherry up front, medium plus in body, with a clinging soft mouth coating texture, on top of the melange of mineral notes and floral essence. This was wonderful.

  Local Minneapolis Chef extraordinaire Don Saunders cooked for 8 Shrimpheads at my place. We highly recommend hiring Don to cook for in home events! My btl tonight. Sourced on release and in great shape. I decanted this for 3hrs prior to diner & further slow-oxed in btl for another 2+ hrs before our flt came up. This was a very nice btl for an 08 but it fell a bit short of Lonny's '10 Mazis from Faiveley in the same flt. The nose was classic with rose petal, sous-bois & berries but the palate seemed a bit reticent and lacking some punch. Based on some fantastic 06' I've drank in the past and my overall experience with Mugneret Gibourg this didn't hit the heights of other vintages. That said, I have one more btl that may show me more in 3-5yrs than tonight?

  La Paulée de New York - The Verticals (Eventi Hotel - New York NY): Walk around tasting. My first time tasting since at the domaine in 2010. Black and red cherry is simultaneously bright and fresh fruit as well as gracefully maturing with sauvage and leather. So much here, this is at a wonderful place right now.
