Earth, cherry cola, oak spice and dark fruit on the nose. Palate still showed some unresolved oak, lacking the finesse of the Les Amoureuses terroir. The least interesting vintage of this wine among 97, 99 and 02.

Another Saturday at Knightsbridge - mostly blind (Northbrook, IL): Tasted double blind. Funk on nose took 5 minutes to dissipate, then good floral elements came through. Good sweet fruit at start and middle, good spice, still seeming to show a bit of oak. Moderate fruit, good spice on finish. I was able to accurately identify this as Chambolle 1er (vs. prior wine, where I thought an RRV Pinot Noir was also from Burgundy).

Flavor of red fruits. Typical Chambolle Musigny.
