  • Awesome deep gold colour, literally the actual colour of gold. Burst of cinder toffee on the nose, alongside actual wood, poached apple with cinnamon, and, insanely, sultana. I had some sultanas yesterday and it does smell like them. On the second glass a bit more freshness, and still highly complex. Palette dominated by bruised yellow apple and beautiful freshness. Fresh lemon on the second glass. Great acidity, mouthwatering, with a nice bitter lemon finish. The dichotomy between nose and palette is huge. Nose very evolved, and palette fresh and youthful.

  • 49% Chardonnay from Avize, Chouilly, Cramant, Oger and 51% Pinot Noir from Ay, Verzenay, Verzy, Bouzy. Aged on lees for 10 years with no malolatic fermenation and 9 g/l dosage. Disgorged December 2010.

Pours a medium gold. A layered and inviting nose that’s slightly oxidative in style with bruised yellow apples, cinder toffee, sandalwood, dried yellow flowers, toffee apple, sultanas steeped in baking spices, orange blossom, marzipan, and a mineral component of brass cookware. The palate - while appearing far younger and less complex than the nose - is bright and harmonious with bruised yellow apples, blanched almonds, and flakes of sea salt.

  • Nice nose of yeast, almonds… then the mid-palate shows a still-vibrant acidity, with great notes of lemon and apples, a decent mousse, and some pleasant bitter lemon notes on the ending with some oak wood as well. If you like the style, you’ll love it!

  • No formal notes. Good, but not great. Still fresh and vibrant, though definitely mellowed. Citrus, green apple and warm bread. Good length. Will keep for another few years.

  • Mature nose with grapefruit and preserved lemon aromas mixed with yeasty undertones. Lovely weight on the palate with a smooth texture and energizing acidity.
