  • Beautiful wine refined and perfectly balanced. I can't imagine it can get any better. A great wine.

  • This wine is amazing! The nose had great intensity showing a lot of notes of developed Pinot. Pure and clean. Aromas of violets and roses, together with with red cherries and spices. In all, refined and elegant. Palate brought the same notes with layers of (fresh) red fruit and the complexity that it developed. And indeed this was very elegant as the tannins were fine. Great great balance. Nice medium+ finish. I think this wine can age another decade but it's just wonderful now. We opened this together with Jadot Clos St-Jacques '02. The contrast was interesting as both wines were very pure and reflected I guess mostly the difference in terroir. This was more elegant and refined, while the Clos St-Jacques had more muscle. Both great wines.

  • Hugel et Fils tasting (Cornerstone Wines, Robertson Walk): What a lovely wine. Very Beaune nose, with mint, eucalyptus, dusty earth, flowers and dusky cherries. Very pretty and perfumed. After some time, a nice, mushroomy scent started wafting out of the glass. The palate attacked with a rush of sweet cherries, surprisingly forward for a 2002, even rather sweet, but with a submerged and nicely integrated mineral spine that gave the wine a nice support. Plenty of power, but great balance, with fruit wed to nice bright acidity and the finest, almost filigreed tannins. I thought there was great purity of expression in this wine and enjoyed it down to from start to finish, where it gently resolved with orange peel notes and a touch of slatey mineral lingering in the mouth. Not super long, but very decent, with lots of concentration right to the very end. Very seductive and altogether excellent.
