Popped n poured with a pasta and red sauce on this Tuesday eve. Nose is earthy and fruity. Lots of bricking in the glass as expected. Medium body, oak has dissipated sufficiently. Shockingly, this wine still has plenty of sweet fruit, along with earthy woodsy and mushroom notes. Some spice here too, particularly at the back end. Tannins are fully resolved, there's sweet black fruit and plenty of spice. Well-preserved, and a nice bargain find.

This is a really good producer for the money. I bought this wine many years ago and was so impressed, I aged it to see what it would taste like. While it was very pleasant, it really didn't improve after 5-6 years. Still soft on tannins, its medium bodied, decent acidity, with a nice finish but lacks some of the complex elements of an elite wine. It held up pretty well without decanting, showing some floral notes and typical central coast structure of black currant. Still impressive after 13 years, I think its very hard to beat in its price range but will not get any better with age.

Decent color. The nose showed nice fruit of black cherry, blackberry and some currant. The palate showed decent dark fruits of currant and cherries with anise and some tar. The mid-palate was a bit tinny, (not as plush as would have liked) and the finsh clipped. Although it has 'evolved' from 2 years ago, when it was all alcohol, this seemed to have gone nowhere except being a decent quaffer.

Suber Bowl Sunday, decanted 1+ hour, fabulous wine. We had this 2 years ago and it was dis-jointed so I held the 2nd bottle for a couple of years. What a difference. This wine had what I call the 6" nose of ripe berries and a smoky aroma. Really drinking at peak right now.

Still gobs fruit and almost no tannins until the end, and mild at that. No cab signature. Easy drinking, good weight.
