Saturday Lunch with Friends and Wine (Prairie Grass - Northbrook IL): Served blind, known as old Burg. Seemed like it was from a ripe vintage, I thought late 1960s or early 1970s (so either 69 or 71). Lingering red fruit with lots of mushroom and some forest floor. Good length, nicely balance to start, this stayed nicely drinkable for at least 30 minutes.

Another Saturday at Chevalier...Mostly Blind: Tasted double blind. Obvious as an old Burgundy, even in the Italian-themed afternoon tasting. Faint hints of lingering fruit, lots of earth and cooked mushroom. Elegant and balanced. More fun and interesting than really tasty, but still charming and enjoyable.
