  • Needing a lot of air but that is expected. Cloudy to start. Smoke, fresh red fruit, lightly earthy, raspberry, rose, night shades, torched, meaty. So clearly Morey with its earthiness. So balanced, resolved and lively on the palates. Sweet vintage ripeness with perfect amount of acid. Ethereal, almost stole the show today if not for the Leroy. 95-96

  • Gevery Luncheon (Manhatta): From JC. This wine had the most rancid and pungent aromatics upon opening. The nose was literally that of fossil fules and farm. Perhaps the most rustic nose I have ever experienced in wine. As another lunch compian aptly noted, the nose was a paradoxical combination of savory / pleasant sauvage and something far less pleasant - almost like a Durian.

Aromatics aside, this wine blossomed into one of substantial quality with air.
