Old, but not dead. The cork was done, but w/o much seepage. Appearance is fine for the age: pale ruby color, neither brownish nor opaque. The aromas are actually quite pleasant after just a little bit of decanting, a mix of light red fruit, truffles, and smoked meet or bacon. The old age is apparent in the excessive acidity, but still not to a degree you wouldn’t want to drink it. It drinks fine when paired with slightly acidic or spicy cheese; in my case Bucheron cheese worked well for pairing.
