  First of 4 bottles.
  Fairly good fill level at very high shoulder and cork in reasonably good condition given its age.
  Well, this seems to be the recurring problem with the 47 vintage: runaway fermentations and high level of VA...
  Very deep hue as often encountered with this vintage.
  A pickled character that refused to leave and untimately made this not an enjoyable bottle of wine. The ripeness was clearly there but the winemaking practices are lacking. I had higher hopes after recently tasting a really nice bottle of the '37 but they were not able to manage the fermentation here...
