  • Very good; at its best at 2-hrs open. I'd decanted this for sediment, and returned to bottle. Color, aromas, and flavors are consistent with my previous bottles, which is to say this was just lovely, with a mature profile that keenly balanced a good amount remaining red/dark red fruits, with gentle, sweet tannins. Could have passed for an aged BDX in a blind tasting. Elegant, and lovely, but time to drink up. highly recommended

  • PnP (cork came out in one piece, but was fully soaked), this was not up to the previous two bottles I'd opened in the past couple of years (those showing exceptionally well). Not oxidized, per se, but clearly not in top form, either. To be more specific, this had some really fine moments of beauty, but they were more short-lived than other bottles where the wine continued to improve as it unfolded. Marginally flawed, but still very good with food, thanks to plenty of acidity.

  • My first try of this, and wow this was delicious. Smooth yet firm still, showed very sangiovese. At first, it was a bit monolithic and bone dry, but deeper into the bottle, it got sweeter and a showed some more nuance. Hard to resist.

  • Just now in its preferred window, but with many good years and even some upside yet ahead of it. My first of four, this was Audozed 5 hours prior to serving. Still, it needed another two hours of being open and sampled before this had revealed all (or at least most) of its charms. Excellent varietal character, with wave after wave of earth; each wave seeming to bring something unique to the table. Medium-bodied, with excellent acidity, this was actually showing a lot of youthfulness around the 45 minute mark (swirling all the while) in the glass. Beautiful, honest, and for me, quite dreamy. I'll open the next one in 3-5 years, and will be sure to aerate in wide-bottom decanter for at least 2 hours prior to service. highly recommended

A great standard bearer for what's possible in the region; served non-blind.

***1989 was an awful vintage for this region, lots of mildew/disease, etc., but this wine did not show anything less than ideal++. A testament to the work that went into the vineyards that year; brilliant winegrowing. ***
