Borderline overripe style with raisin or fig flavors. Odd texture, maybe a bit effervescent. Not as good as a bottle I had 4 or 5 months ago. Purchased in July 2007 from Premier Cru, so maybe my bottles might have had less than perfect provenance.

Tasted through 2 nights comparing with Combe des Fous 2003. Right after open these bottles, this Grand Veneur tastes more open and felt lots of berries (mostly red) and great acidity. Combe des Fours tastes more serious and a bit closed with blue-black berries. color was bright purple and long finish. It is just beginning of maturity and feels like last another 5years stay on peak.Better than 4 years ago.

Last of my 2003 CDP's, probably needed to be opened a year or two earlier. Still has some nice red cherry and strawberry fruit although it starts to get lost on the finish. Earth and tobacco on the palate, still good to drink but way past it's prime.

Has peaked so drink up. Rich, possibly a bit porty, but very complex with lots of appeal.
