  • One of the most satisfying purchases I've even made! Bought a bunch of these about 4yrs ago, and I think this is the 5th bottle...ALL have been well above expectations! This one had tons of mold under capsule...corked pulled out nice and spongy, yet firm. Smelled the cork...and damn...it smelled of oxidized wine? Quickly smelled into the bottle, and it smelled of beautiful cherries! Ahhhh...another fantastic bottle! And it is! Wonderful mix of sous bois and bright/tart cherries, pretty strawberry field nose, more old leather than I've encountered before, slight menthol. This bottle not as silky smooth as others...little more astringent, tart edges...yet still quite smooth and round, with a good kick of sour cherry skin acidity and crushed geology. LOVE the red fruits...the pretty feminine perfume florals...tons of complexity for a village effort. The astringency kicks it down a couple notches...but I've only had it open in bottle for an hour, so will report back it some airtime integrates. Super stuff! Would love to try an Amoureuses in this vintage!

  • The gift that keeps on giving! 4th bottle from the same stash purchased a few years ago...ALL have been way more than what I could ask for at this level, and really, if it was GC, i'd be happy too!! The first thing is the color...bright rose, cranberry color with a little cloudiness but nice transparency. The second thing is the nose...PRETTY nose! Sweet wild strawberry, red licorice, cranberry tea, dried roses, orange spice cake...little sous bois and truffle hunt with the age. In the mouth, soft and round with smoothness...still has good acidic kick with tart cherry, even seems to have some dry dusty tannins, that along with the acidity gives a nice pucker. Aging well with subtle dried tobacco leaves, old leather, dried potpourri, menthol. Beautiful Chambolle village here...and another 93 drinking at peak!

  • Third time with this from the same stash…..this bottle was singing! Pretty similar to my last note….maybe showing a little lighter and prettier……Transparent rustic cloudy cranberry, rose rim color. Sweet wild red berry fruit, rose petals, orange potpourri, sous bois, slight saddle leather nose….GORGEOUS NOSE! Very much alive and pretty darn youthful in the mouth…dancing citrus acidity, maybe even some tannin? Rustic and pretty…tart strawberry, raspberry, cherry, plum fruit….bright with cherry skin acidity, cranberry orange zest….well rounded with smoothness. Love the dusty earth tones, dried leaves/spices, slight menthol and old leather. Old school stuff here…VERY satisfying village, and another 93 drinking extremely well!!
