Tasted at a lunch @maeemo. The only wine we did not pre-order and for me personally I should have taken that as a hint. I did not, so my notes are per some faint(ing) recollection. Wine came across as quite developed. Earth and spices prominent in the mix, although the red (sweet/mature) cherries was showing all the way. Soft and quite velvety. Appealing but not really exciting.

Another Saturday at Chevalier...Mostly Blind (Chicago, IL): Served double blind to the tasting group. All red fruit that is nicely matured/ maturing, seemingly older than 2007 to many tasters. Good spice, soft structure that is very representative of the vintage. Best around now. Kudos to Jamie who immediately identified this as Pommard.

Red cherry, some red berry. Forward and slightly mature with very good density for Villages level. Forward fruit made this seem very "2007" to start, but some power and tannins on finish showed its Pommard pedigree.

Burgundy Lunch @ ZARZO (Eindhoven , Netherlands): An evolved medium intense and fully translucent ruby core can be seen, which turns to garnet near the clearing rim. Some noticeable development is also present on the medium-minus intense nose, which offers up dried herbs, integrated spicy wood notes and dried but still sweet red cherry. This wine has a not quite medium-plus body supported by medium-minus tannins, which have a slight edge of unripeness in a 2007 sort of way, but a lick of glycerine buffers them adequately. The medium intense dried red cherry flavours are driven by medium-plus acidity and a dried thyme herbal component adds interest. At this point in its evolution, this wine trades mainly on its decent balance, as witnessed by no less than 25-30 seconds worth of sneaky length. So, I’ll award a score of 87 points and wish to extend the advice to drink this now while it still has some charm. J.-F. Coche has since sold this parcel. TN ....................... Mike de Lange.
