Dark, glossy and very much at the start of its drinking window. We suspect this was never a closed wine but still having tried old caleras this is just starting its real journey. Very much the cool climate, new world grown, old world made Pinot. Firm, ripe but devout of sweet ripe core we usually see in NY Pinot, balanced and elegant. Black fruits, light olive, light tomato feel. Needs a good 5 more years to develop an earthy side and then will be in a league of its own. Always a pleasure to try these wines. 91 for now but has a few more points in the tank once it evolves.

Amazing amount of life still left in this wine even though, as expected, it is showing age, but still has some enjoyment left in it. Great nose. A brick color with some cherry fruit and acidity to balance.

Lots of sediment! Copper-red color all the way through, iron flavor, still fresh, though. Would be great with a roast chicken but not as pleasing on its own. Not bad for 16/17 years.

In Pursuit of Balance (NYC): Nice experience to try. Funk, lots of it. Petroleum. Some fruit left. Past prime.
