  • Got grippier as it opened up. Pinot fruit. Minerals. Enjoyable

  • Old LLM bottles rarely show the typical reduced nose typical of LLM. The wine has an elegant perfume, typical of the south of NSG, which is strict, distinctively different of the animal of Gevrey and the spice of Vosnes. The nose is a mix of black and red fruits, and still primary. The mouth has a noble tensile limestone texture and a complex mid palate, with good length and depth. There is a striking acidity, definitely masculine, so to enjoy this wine I went on to do a cream portobello mushrooms in a chicken broth, so that the chick and the soldier could go for a tango a deux.

  • Dark, concentrated and focused on the nose with sweet raspberries, undergrowth and plenty of dark, charred oak. The palate is smooth and approachable but the grippy tannins and lingering acidity provides structure. A shame that this was the only bottle in the cellar, as i would love to taste again in 10 years. This goes to show that skilled winemakers can make excellent wines in less than optimal vintages. 92-94
