Community Tasting Notes (1)

  • First bottle from a half case purchased from a merchant in the Netherlands in 2008. Immediately after opening it seemed very advanced - possibly even with a hint of maderisation. After a couple of hours in the decanter this cleared up, and a cool, spicy minerality sets in, but a sweet, nutty aroma remains. Structurally the wine is perfectly intact, with refreshing acidity and solid, energetic tannins. The finish has good resonance and length, but this includes the hint of decay. This bottle is ill at ease with itself, but it sat very well with Elizabeth's Tagliatelle with supreme of veal in a sauce of onion, mushroom, paprika, sherry and cream. Not rated.
