It seems like Sea Smoke Chardonnays never make it past 90 points with me. Despite 10 years of age, this continues to be the trend. It's certainly not my preferred style, but I can see how people would enjoy it. Yet, no matter what you make of it, this is ultimately like an everyday drinker with its mild characteristics. From a producer like Sea Smoke, I'd expect more complexity and character.

Tasted non blind at a wine dinner. Tasted from magnum.
Yellow color in the glass, clear looking throughout. Nose of hazelnut, vanilla, soaked pears and yellow apples. Flavors of yellow pears and yellow apples. Light to medium acidity, medium bodied. Drink or hold. I'd drink.

This magnum aged very well. An elegant blend of acidic fruit, smooth oak, and a hint of butter. No elements out of balance. Medium finish. Paired well with broiled tilapia and mango salsa.

No formal notes, nicely balanced wine in a burgundian style. 1.5 liter bottle.
