Indistinguishable from the 2005 Gaunoux Beaune Village served last week. Chalk it up to buying wine at auction of unknown provenance. This tastes tired, and perhaps a bit cooked.

Very classic firm style Bourgogne. On the palate redcurrant and cherry on some herbal and forest moss notes. Nice minerality and acidity grip. Despite 16 years this still have two decades ahead. Love it. Love the firm and precise style. 93-95P

Notes from several trusted sources in 2010-2011 were very positive about this, but on the basis on this single bottle I’m not carried away. Maybe it’s me, maybe it’s the bottle, maybe it’s the tunnel that some 05s are in. The nose is Cortonish sure enough with red apple peel, maraschino cheery, and touches of cinnamon and sauvage, but it doesn’t pop. It might be simply due to immaturity, the the palate doesn’t suggest deep, resonant substance in reserve (as did the 05 Hudelot-Noellat Richebourg and RSV tried within the past couple of days), but rather an aggressive acidity and a shortish finish. Trying the remaining half bottle the following day revealed a wine of greater elegance but less aromatic interest and no more development on the palate. So, like I said - maybe (hopefully) a fluke but on the strength of this bottle I’d be curious to see some others revisit it.

Totally underwhelming, tasted like tired Bourgogne rouge.

Smooth and elegant but a bit thin and lack the fruit flavours and cherry notes. Quite unlike typical Corton. I suspect this is a bit over the hill
