PNP into Zalto Burgundy glass (“Leaf” day): Brilliant colours of a spectrum from purplish ruby to garnet.
The brightest of ruby cherries, wild berries and cranberries for the fruits, slightly smoke infused. Very ethereal and penetrating nose with herbal notes, tea and sweet spices. Some egg-white reductive notes that blew off quickly. More secondary aromas detected. Overall this is not exactly deep but this is a truly elegant and pure effort at its best - Quintessential Bourgogne indeed.
Slightly less impressive on palate (this is true just 1/10 into the bottle) with dedicate fruit flavours followed through nose and then a fine line of high acidity and minerality. Tannins are silky and a clean finish of the nice fruits and a dash of freshly grounded spices.
Enjoyable now. Given the minerality and acidity structure I think this still had a good 5 years ahead of its drinking window, though also not a crime to open this now.
Wow what a Bourgogne this is... 93-94 points to me.
1/3 into the bottle, opened around 1 hour upon opening: More plummy notes and black tea notes, slightly preserved red fruits.
1/2 into the bottle, opened around 2 hours upon opening: Maintaining good energy, and minerality on palate. Quite a lot of good tannins now. Maintain at 93-94 points.

5/19/2018 - JOsgood Does not like this wine: 85 Points
Nose smelled of garbage. The palate was disjointed. Not a sound bottle or just a bad wine? Not sure.

This started out really nice and quickly lost steam. Probably much better younger.
